In My Own Words: A Letter from God

My Dear Children,

I want to take this time to tell you I have been watching and thinking of you. For most of you, your week began well. I saw you in many churches, praying, celebrating the Eucharist, and meditating on what is right and wrong. This made me smile. For those of you who could not attend a religious service, I knew you were praying. I want to remind you to think of Me when you are in a church or celebrating the Eucharist. Some of you think of something else, like the game you want to watch later in the day, what you plan to make for dinner, homework assignments, or your mind wanders. It is ok, in a way. I know you are not perfect. But some of you have more to learn about being humble and accepting of others. It is ok. I have more in store for you in the time to come.

I am pleased with how some of you have been caring for the elderly, the poor, the sick, and those in need. You are meant to take care of your family and welcome all into your home. Oh, don’t be confused by the word family. You are all my children, so that makes you one large family. If you trace your family history back to its origin, you all have the same ancestral beginning, or have you not read that part of the bible? There are some that attempt to take advantage of your generosity. Greed is your creation originating from your free will. Greed has a way of turning something good for all into covetousness. Do you remember the story of the rich man and his abundant harvest, written by Luke? It is the Parable of the Rich Fool. Since you are uncertain, I will tell you again, my children.  There was a rich man who had an excellent harvest one growing season. The problem he faced was a lack of sufficient storage for his harvest. He tore down his barns and built larger ones to store his surplus grain. He could now take life easy. He would eat, drink, and be merry. But I, your Lord and Creator, the One who gifted him with this wealth, considered this man a fool and demanded his life that very night. Now, who will get what he has prepared for himself? This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God. Be on your guard against all kinds of greed. Life does not consist of an abundance of possessions. Do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap; they have no storeroom or barn; yet I feed them. And how much more valuable you are than birds. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? But your greed and the desire for the material things in your life have made some of you distant from me. You hide in the shadows. It is ok. I have more in store for you in the time to come.

I am pleased how many of you have raised your children to believe and pray to Me. Your children, my children, do tend to cause you a little grief on occasion, don’t they? This grief allows them to grow and explore. Remember, my children, you are not perfect, though you tend to think otherwise. You are all commanded to honor your father and mother for this pleases Me. For those of you who are rebellious toward your parents, you do have a chance to repent. Do this before it is too late. If you are rebellious toward your parents, your children will be rebellious toward you. This is what you have taught your children. This is not pleasing to Me. There is still time for you to take control of your children and teach them. Children, there is still time for you to listen to your parents. Do you remember the story of the Prodigal Son? You know the story where one son who received his inheritance squandered his wealth in wild living. The son returned to his father, tired, hungry, humbled, and sorry for his actions. The son sinned against heaven and his father. He no longer felt worthy to be called son. The father had to celebrate and be glad his son was dead and is now alive. He was lost and is found. If you have trouble accepting a lost child or a child having trouble returning home, I have more in store for you in the time to come.

I want to remind you all about prayer. Prayer is your response to Me when I speak to you or reveal Myself to you. It is not just an exchange of words. Prayer involves the whole person in a relationship to Me through the Son and the Holy Spirit. One of the easiest ways you can pray to Me is to meditate. Meditation is a quest, for you are seeking Me, though I am always with you. When you meditate on the writings in the Bible, the Gospels, icons, or spiritual writings, you come closer to Me. There are many spiritual writings for your meditation needs. I want you to become closer to Me. I want you to ask what is expected of you. I have given you all the signs to follow, but you, my children, do not always pay attention until your life is filled with grief from not listening. Then you turn to Me with prayers seeking forgiveness and healing. I welcome you with open arms. But I remind you, continue to pray for graces. I reward those who ask for help. But as your father, I reward you for what I know you should have, not always what you want. This is why I ask you to think of all that has been gifted to you by Me. Look around you. I have provided for all your needs. It is you who has taken advantage of the gifts. But all is not lost, my children. With my graces, you will be raised above all your earthly possessions, grief, and illness. You are my children. I have created you. But I did not create you to be perfect. This you must earn. This is your life on earth. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. By testing, you may discern what is My Will for you; what is good and acceptable. Do not think of yourself more highly than what you should. I want you to seek righteousness, not to be unrighteous. I want you to be thankful for your graces and gifts. Am I asking too much of my children? As my children, I have more in store for you in the time to come.

With all my love, I kiss you softly, Your Father.
