Our days are full of noise — constant notifications, endless news, and busy schedules. It is easy to feel busy yet spiritually empty, active yet unanchored. In this restless state, the voice of God can seem faint and far away. Yet Scripture reminds us: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
The evil one does not need to convince us to hate God; he often succeeds simply by keeping us too busy to notice Him. Stillness is not just pausing; it’s an act of trust. It means believing God is at work even when we stop. Like Mary at the feet of Jesus, we choose the “one thing” needed — to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen. We need His presence in our lives.
We can’t escape every distraction, but we can make sacred pauses: five minutes of morning prayer, the Angelus at noon, and ending the day in Scripture. These moments anchor us in God’s peace.
When we dwell with Him, our hearts grow clear, patient, and joyful. Stillness deepens faith — and a faithful heart bears fruit.
Lord, help me to step away from the noise and find rest in You. Give me the courage to step away from the noise and the wisdom to choose the better part – to sit at Your feet, listen, and be renewed in Your love, Amen
